Set in the peaceful Out Islands of the Bahamas, Sandals Emerald Bay is a laidback resort sprawling across 500 acres. It has a mile-long beach and an onsite golf course.

Nestled on the best beach in Antigua, Sandals Grande Antigua has been voted “World’s Most Romantic Resort,” and the lushly landscaped grounds have all sorts of romantic nooks.  

Sandals Grande Antigua has a slightly higher Google rating, at 4.3 vs. 4.2 for Sandals Emerald Bay.

Sandals Emerald Bay is in Great Exuma, Bahamas, about 20 minutes from Georgetown Exuma International Airport.

Both Sandals Emerald Bay and Antigua offer beautiful beaches and a full range of complimentary watersports including scuba diving, snorkeling, paddleboarding, kayaking, and Hobie Cat sailing.

The beach at Sandals Emerald Bay is a mile-long stretch of pristine white sand with vibrant coral reefs offshore. Sandals Grande Antigua is set on 2 miles of the most famous and best beach in Antigua, Dickenson Bay.

Both resorts offer a variety of pools and whirlpools; Sandals Emerald Bay has a half-acre zero-entry pool that is said to be the largest in the Caribbean. Land sports such as tennis, beach volleyball, and basketball are available at each resort as well, in addition to a full fitness center. Sandals Emerald Bay offers championship golf with an onsite course designed by Greg Norman (where green fees are complimentary).

You can enjoy nightly entertainment at both including live shows, theme nights, and more. Sandals Antigua is perfectly situated for stunning sunsets over Dickenson Bay.

Each resort has a spa (services cost extra). Both also have excursions you can book for additional fees; one of the most unique is swimming with pigs at Sandals Emerald Bay.

Both Sandals Emerald Bay and Sandals Grande Antigua have 11 restaurants. Sandals Emerald Bay has 6 bars including a swim-up bar and an English pub. There are 7 bars including swim-up bars and beach bars at Sandals Grande Antigua.

Sandals Emerald Bay only has club-level and butler-level rooms and suites, all oversized with partial or full ocean views. Top choices are the two-story Royal Estate Beachfront Butler Villa, with a private pool and direct beach access, and the Prime Minister Honeymoon One-Bedroom Beachfront Walkout Butler Suite, just steps from the sand. Both come with 24-hour butler service. There are also club level junior suites and rooms, which all have Caribbean views, private balconies or patios, and soaking tubs.

Sandals Grande Antigua offers a range of beachfront, oceanview, and garden view suites and rooms at the luxury, club, and butler level. One of the swankiest options is the Mediterranean Villa with Private Pool Sanctuary, which has beautiful water views from the private patio with pool and whirlpool. When we visited, we stayed in a Mediterranean Oceanview Penthouse with One Bedroom Butler Suite, which had a great view of the resort. Both come with 24-hour private butler service.
